It is the only legally marketable human product in the world. The hair, whether it comes from India or China, has crossed borders for decades to end up on the heads of the Ladies that we are.
The human hair industry has been around since the early 1940s.
“Human hair comes from all over India. But there are two types of hair. First, the “remy” hair, collected in four states in the south of the country: Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka. And there is the “non-remy”, that is to say the “brushing hair”, which one finds in all the country ”, indicates George Benjamin Cherian before adding that the human hair industry exists since the beginning of the 1940s.
The largest temple supplying the human hair industry is Tirupati, a place of pilgrimage located in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Between 2011 and 2016, this temple raised $ 97 million from hair sales. During these auctions, where the hair is stuffed into jute bags, the price varies between approximately 200 and 400 euros per kilo. But, from one year to another, the price can vary by 15%.
IF INDIA KEEPING THE MONOPOLY OF TRADE IN HUMAN HAIR, THE CHINESE HAVE NOW OCCURRED LEADERS IN THE FINISHED PRODUCTS INDUSTRY
“Remy” hair, or stamped Remy Hair, is a guarantee of quality for buyers during sales. Virgin and natural, they come from one and the same person, have not undergone any chemical treatment and are kept in the same direction to prevent them from becoming tangled. Otherwise, we speak of “brushing hair”, which is more difficult to use. This is the type of hair that China obtains to then work it, chemically, in its factories.
